Parking advice
General Packing info
The following advice is to ensure
the safety of your goods and to make your removal as hassle free as possible
Try to tape shut all doors on
wardrobes and chests etc. Clear hallways of obstructions prior to the day of
your removal and try to obtain door stoppers to ensure a clear path.
The best piece of advice we can
give is to buy good quality boxes. Although it’s very easy to go to the grocery
store and get free boxes these are very often of poor quality and can end up
collapsing as I’ve seen many times over. Overall without a doubt good quality
boxes will make a huge difference to the smooth running of your removal.
Instead of having 10 small boxes
such as shoe or make up boxes etc try to use 1 larger box. Also I strongly
advise against the use of plastic bags for books or electric equipment etc
Parking
Advice
London along with Paris has without a
doubt become one of the most difficult cities to park in especially with regards
to a removal or collection of items etc. Therefore it is strongly advised that
you plan ahead with regards to parking. Unfortunately we are no longer prepared
to park illegally due to the high number of fines already received this year.
The average fine is approx £60, as we frequently carry out moves for less than
£50 you can see that this is not a good way to run a profitable business.
Most people believe that its ok to load
illegally for a few minutes, or so long as the parking warden doesn't give you a
ticket or in fact you can load in a residents bay, this is not so. All the
tickets we received so far this year are due to cctv which is almost every where
now. We are reluctant to pass these costs on to you so here is some advice
There are a number of things that can be
done, you can arrange a parking dispensation with your local borough council, or
you can simply obtain visitor permits, or you can you can check the times that
the move can be legally carried out and we'll try and accommodate as best as
possible.
If you live in a busy street and you anticipate
parking might be an issue here some tips, use wheely bins to reserve your space,
or provided it isn't likely to rain you could put 1 or 2 large items or
furniture out on your space to reserve it. A lot of people of people have a
large amount of items to dispose of when they move and this would be ideal to
reserve you space.

f.a.q.
Q -
Do you work Sundays?
A - Yes we work 24hrs 7days a week.
Q -
What’s the furthest place that you’ve carried out a move?
A - In terms of the time travelled to get there it would be Norway which
took about 2 and a half days to travel to.
Q -
Do you have a tow bar?
A - Yes we have often towed boats.
Q
- What items will you not take?
A - We will not take anything illegal, pets unless by prior arrangement or
vehicles such as motorbikes within the loading area.
Q -
How much notice do I need to give for a booking?
A Generally weekends book out fast, for international moves at least 2 weeks
is best, although we can be in Europe at a moments notice your quote will be
higher which is down to the ferry companies and is something which we have no
control over.
Q -
Where is the 2nd man?
A - All quotes are given for 1 working man and a van unless you request a
quote for 2 or more working men and a van.
Q - I don’t think my
sofa will fit out the door what will I do?
A If an item doesn’t fit outside a doorway please try to establish this
before our arrival and we will do our best to advise further.

Q -
What’s the best way to pack my Plasma TV?
A - The best thing to do is to put it back in its original box, if this is
not possible first bubble wrap it then put a blanket around it and then cling
film it. This method is also good for other delicate items like leather sofas
etc.
Q
- I have a fragile item
will it be safe in the van?
A - I am very surprised by the vast majority of clients who hand me a
Plasma, mirror or PC monitor without any protection. If this is the case then
I’m sure you will understand that I cannot be held responsible for this item in
a moving van with a full load. I certainly wouldn’t do it with my TV. So long as
you have taken reasonable precautions with regards to packing then I will take
full responsibility of your items.

Q - What
is my quote based on?
A - We take numerous
factors in to consideration, such as parking, floor number, items, distance etc
from this we then estimate how long the job will take and quote you accordingly
Q How much
to fill a Sprinter Van?
A This is almost
impossible to say for a number of reasons, mainly depending on parking the items
and your proximity to the van we could be looking at anything from 1hr to 3hrs
plus loading time and the main reason we would be reluctant to quote on a full
van load is that I would say over 80% of people who say they have a full van
load actually don’t even have half a van load.
Q How do I
get the cheapest quote?
A - By going to the
booking form and giving us as much info as
possible. For international moves giving us roughly 4 weeks notice will result
in cheaper quote.
Q - What
else needs to be paid on top of my quote?
A - Absolutely nothing
this includes international moves also, your quote covers road tolls, fuels etc.
If we show up for a move and you have significantly more items than what we
quoted you for then we may issue a re quote to cover the extra time and in the
case of international or long distance moves this re quote covers weight etc.
There is nothing wrong with a few extra boxes bags etc were talking about extra
fridges freezers sofas etc.
